Whilst Galligan's Tang Soo Do and the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation has a responsibility to provide you the student with the highest quality of instruction and communication it can; you too have responsibilites to the club, the federation and to yourself. Regardless of your grade white or black belt you have taken a significant step and that is to commence and continue training in a martial art.
Members of the club should at all times conduct themselves as an example of what a proper martial artist should be.
Requirements for Gradings are as follows
- Student must be a member of the club
- Grading fee
- Uniform
- Badges, Front and Back
Grandmaster Kim sets all grading fees. All certifications are registered with the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation and with the Tang Soo Do International Korean Karate Federation.
Membership Code and Conduct
Members shall follow the principles of the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation
- World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do is a classical martial art and not a sport. It is not a game to be played soley for the sake of winning, but rather a physical and intellectual activity designed to foster physical, mental and spiritual health.
- As a classical martial art, World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation aims to develop and express the individual's true self, not the false sense of glorification.
- The major focus is on self-development. Competition by groups or individuals is of minor usefulness in realizing individual potential.
- Every practioner of the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation must do his/her utmost to retain the purity of this art and not debase it in any way.
- Man is at his best when helping others; at his worst when competing with others.
The attitude requirements required to master Tang Soo Do
- Purpose of training should be enhancement of mental and physical betterment.
- Serious approach
- All out effort
- Maintain regular and constant practice
- Practice basic techniques all the time
- Regularly spaced practice sessions
- Always listen and follow the direction of the instructor or seniors
- Do not be overly ambitious
- Frequently inspect your own achievements
- Always follow a routine training schedule
- Repeatedly practice all techniques already learnt
- When you learn new techniques, learn thoroughly the theory and philosophy as well
- When you begin to feel idle, try to overcome this.
